The Art of Visualization and
the Law of Attraction.“The Secret” is nothing new. The DVD is mainly a well marketed and well-produced collection of paraphrases from public domain works such as Thomas Troward’s “The Creative Process in the Individual” printed in 1910, The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles printed in 1912... I recognized a few things from Napoleon Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich” printed in 1937 and even a few ideas form a little known book called the Neo-Tech Discovery by Frank R. Wallace printed in 1990, which is mostly just paraphrasing Ann Rand. I’ve even read bits of “the secret” in “how to” golf manuals.
So what’s all the fuss about? Most of the information found on “The Secret” DVD video can be found for free on the Internet just by doing a Google Search on Thomas Troward or Napoleon Hill. If you really want to get closer to the source, read Aristotle. His works are fascinatingly dry, hard to follow and don’t translate well into English but it’s where a lot of this information originated.
The Fact is this “secret” information has been exposed thousands of times, in thousands of ways and for thousands of years. Yet very few people ever make any kind of real connection with this underling power we all apparently share with the universe.
One reason for this is the fact that these teachings go against the grain of most conventional thinking and almost everything we have been conditioned to believe. Most people write it off as superstition or typical “just feel good,” self-help hogwash.
There have also been some concerted efforts in the past to ban or suppress some of this material because certain members of the status quo, like corporate conglomerations and self proclaimed “authorities” of theology, are afraid of what a freethinking and enlightened society would do to their bottom line.
After all a wealthy Shepherd needs a lot of "sheep" if he wants to remain a wealthy Shepherd.
(The time has come for you to become your own shepherd.)
I will say this about The Secret DVD Video. They do a good job of tying it all together and offer some compelling new ways of presenting this ancient information. It’s obvious they have a top-notch marketing team and they know how to deliver a message. If you enjoy this type of alternative freethinking or want to explore more, I highly recommend buying it.
Just remember that there is nothing mystical or magical about this material. The ancients who first discovered it may have thought so but you could send them running away screaming with a flashlight.
Our understanding of how things work has come a long way since then. It’s too bad our society has become so complacent in the search for esoteric truths. I believe that’s all about to change. Every new generation has a new opportunity to create a better world. Thankfully our civilization is finally reaching the age of information and it’s getting harder and harder to keep a secret.
The Law of Attraction
The theory that surrounds the law of attraction probably originated around the first time someone uttered the phrase: “Ask and Thy Shale Receive” Of course everyone has their own version of spirituality but we are all connected through the energy of thought that exists throughout the universe whether we choose to believe so or not.
The basic idea behind “the secret” is that if you think about something long and often enough, whether it be good or bad, it will eventually attract itself into your life.
The Law of attraction is easy to enough to understand and yet too simple for most people to grasp.
Yes I know that statement sounds strange, until you consider the fact that most of us were programmed from birth to believe that wealth and happiness was supposed to be difficult to achieve.
We are all taught that it takes hard work to be successful. However, hard work does not cause success. Hard work causes headaches, ulcers and stress. True wealth begins with an idea, not a chore.
Work is only hard if you’re doing it for anyone other than yourself. You could be the best boss you ever had… or the worse... It’s up to you.
Everyone has thoughts but how many people make a concerted effort to focus those thoughts on a desired outcome. What techniques do successful people use to visualize a future accomplishment?
It’s all about Imagery in Imagination.
Einstein put it best when he said, “Imagination is more important than intelligence.”
With that statement he reviled one of the most important aspect of “the secret”.One thing ALL successful people have in common is an active imagination.
Creative visualization is the secret key to achieving success with the law of attraction.We all have the ability to think in pictures just like Einstein did, along with every other genius who ever lived. All you have to do is flip on the switch and let the pictures in your mind flow freely.
Once you begin to learn how to focus you imagination on what you want, your subconscious mind will record the images you create and go to work in the background to attract the things you think about into your experience.
Be your own psychic. If you visualize the future you want you will have a greater chance of achieving that experience. It’s as simple as that.
Ask most of the top professional athletes about visualization and they will tell you it is paramount to their success.
Here is a simple 3-step technique you can use to test this theory. The day I showed this technique to my mother she won $150 playing bingo. I know that does not sound like much but is is a beginning.
3-step Exercise for Activating
The Power Behind "The Secret."When you ask people what they really want, the first answer is usually money so we’ll start with that. Just keep in mind this technique can be used for any thing you want: health, wellness, love, adventure … anything.
Secret Method for Gaining Wealth
Step 1: Activating your imagination
Try not to concentrate too hard on this.
Just relax and allow your imagination to wonder around your own images of money. Allow the images to completely fill your minds eye... and remember your mind sees 360.It doesn't’t matter if you see dollar bills, dollar signs, euros or pirates gold, the important thing is to create your own image of what money means to you. Imagine vivid colors and brilliant details so clear you feel you can reach out and touch the image you create all around you. Feel the texture of the paper or the weight of the gold and feel grateful.
Now Imagine all the images that have just flashed through your mind multiplied into thousands of smaller images floating around you in all directions into infinity. Create patterns of all the brilliantly colored pictures floating all around you in every direction as you rise above your world of concerns and everyday life and get a clear picture of all those images of money moving rapidly toward you. You begin to feel exhilarated by the rush of energy being created by your own thoughts as you take one mental snapshot after another creating a mental movie of money flowing rapidly into your life…
Now STOP reading
and take out your wallet and smell the money inside….
…That’s right smell it.
Don’t worry I’m not messing with you and this has nothing to do with any kind of mystical superstition. There is actually a scientific explanation for this…. Keep smelling.
Allow the imaginary patterns of pictures of money flowing toward you as you get a good whiff. Does it remind you of a bank? Does it make you think of the life of wealth you envision for your future? Can you feel the energy being created by your mind as your brain is encoding the memory of what you are experiencing right now?
OK if you haven’t already, you can stop smelling now.
Let me explain what just happened. The sense of smell is the one most strongly associated with memory. If you smell money while your mind is in a state creative imagery your subconscious mind will trigger those images every time you smell money, even if you’re not aware of it. This is just one technique you can use to auto activate your subconscious mind to create new ideas that will lead to bringing you money or whatever it is you’ve imagined.
That’s it for phase one of the exercise.
Keep your mental money flow movie going for as long and as often as you can throughout the next 3 days. Don’t worry if you get sidetracked or lose the image for a while because it will always come back with a single thought. Don’t try too hard. It takes very little effort to keep the images flowing. Just let them occur naturally throughout the day.
Whatever you do, don’t get the idea that if you try harder it will be more effective because that is not the case. This should be done with leisure and ease. Just remember when you go to bed at night to let the movie flow as you drift into sleep so that your subconscious gets a clear picture of what you want.
step 2: Daydreaming, image streaming and A.D.D
Before it was A.D.D, we called it daydreaming. At least that’s what it said on most of my grade school report cards. Now I find it ironic that teachers would actually try to make a child feel guilty about doing what every genus who ever lived did to create their most masterful ideas. … Daydreaming.
Einstein used creative visualization techniques to ponder the connection between mass and energy as it relates to the universe and eventually unlocked the door to a whole new era of science and understanding.
‘The Einstein Factor’, printed in 1996, by Win PhD Wenger and Richard Poe describes Einstein’s visualization techniques as “Image Streaming” which is a good descriptive phrase for the technique. You can call it anything you want. I prefer to call it what it is…daydreaming (in honor of that 8 year old boy who would never amount to anything)
Today’s exercise is to give yourself permission to daydream. Let your mental movie of money flow as often as it feels natural. There is no need for a concerted effort. Just kind of let the pattern of images run in the background while you let your imagination create new pictures and scenarios that could lead to a good feeling of wealth. Write down any ideas you may have only if you are compelled to do so, but by all means, whenever you have a chance today… Just Daydream.
*The significance of Einstein’s theory of relativity cannot be stressed enough in terms of understanding the underlying properties of “the secret”. Relax… This doesn’t mean you have to completely understand Einstein's theory other than the fact that it proves that we are all connected to the universe through a common energy.
And so are our thoughts.
Step 3: Taking the first step into your future wealth.
Action leads to learning and learning leads to more action.
Today’s exercise is to take an action that moves you closer to the future wealth you desire. Any small action will do. You could open a money market account that pays a higher interest rate than your bank or start a new home business or just work on an idea you had while daydreaming. It’s up to you.
Once you take that first step into action you will learn from that action and that knowledge will in turn lead to more actions and more learning and the cycle continues until it begins to pick up speed and mass like a snowball rolling down hill getting bigger and faster until one day you find yourself looking down at your wallet, thick with cash, and you catch the slightest hint of the smell of money and you remember the images you created that led you to your new found wealth. And you feel grateful…
…And the cycle continues.
A final note:
Don’t be surprised if you run into a little unexpected cash the first day of the exercise. I did. By trade I’m a freelance commercial artist. I also do a little writing. The day I created this exercise I had 2 unexpected design jobs come up, one from an old client I hadn’t heard from in years. He said his in-house guy quit and for some reason he thought of me when the job came up. The point is; when you endeavor to connect to your own imagination you are tapping into something bigger than you realize. Your imagination is the gateway to an infinite energy we all share.
Now visualize yourself standing on the highest snow covered mountain you can imagine…
… and imagine you’re holding a snowball. …
